Title: Teen Threat
Rating: General Audiences
Characters/Pairings: Jack, Sam

"You're afraid."

“No, I’m not!”

He smirked. “They’re just kids. Are you telling me you can’t handle a roomful of 13-year-old girls?”

“I am absolutely not… okay, yes, I’m telling you I can’t handle a roomful of teenaged girls on my own. Why does Cassie’s birthday have to be the one time Janet gets stuck at the base where it’s not our fault?” She looked pitifully up at him. “How do I know what they want to do?”

“You spent your entire adolescence in a library, didn’t you?” He sighed. “Okay, you grab the ice cream, I’ll get the videos.”

Title: Too Late
Rating: Teen and Up
Characters/Pairings: Jack, Baal

The air was thick with dust and smoke from weapons fire. The wormhole’s event horizon cast an eerie glow through the haze. Jack lay where he had fallen, watching as row after row of Jaffa came through the gate. Until, finally - Baal.

The bastard thought he had beaten them; he thought he was walking into victory over Earth. His eyes met Jack’s, showing delight in the general’s broken form.

Jack just smirked, his mental clock synced with the countdown the Jaffa in the control room were just now finding.

“Too late,” he whispered. He laughed his last breath.

Title: Grief
Rating: General Audiences
Characters/Pairings: Sam, Cassie

“I hate you!”

Sam could feel the slamming of Cassie’s door as she slumped against the wall. She sighed and shook her head ruefully. Guess dinner was off for the night.

Later, as Sam was pushing the last remnants of her salad around the bowl, Cassie quietly took a seat next to her.

“I didn’t mean it,” she said, sneaking a look at her newest foster mother out of the corner of her eye.

“I know, Cass. And maybe I could have been a little more flexible. This is all new territory for me too.”

“I miss her.”

“Me too.”

Title: Cold Comfort
Rating: General Audiences
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Sam

Winter on this new world was harsh. She could never get warm. Even in bed, she was cold despite the huge pile of blankets she slept under. And she knew he was suffering too, even though that they hadn’t had a personal conversation since they’d been stranded here.

Which was why she was surprised to wake one night to feel his body next to hers. The temperature under the covers felt like it had raised a good ten degrees. Without even thinking about it, she rolled toward him and embraced his warmth and comfort. Words could wait until tomorrow.

Title: The Fog
Rating: General Audiences
Characters/Pairings: Jack

It’s different for everyone, when they come home. For him, it takes simple things, domestic things, to pull him out of the fog. That used to mean spending time with Sara and Charlie, fixing up the house, the truck. Then they were gone and he was alone.

That year after the first Abydos mission saw several additions to his new house: the back deck for grilling, the observation deck on the roof. Every nightmare would propel him to draw up and revise plans.

Now, cleaning up after Daniel’s wake, he thinks maybe it’s time to buy a new house.

Title: Six Months
Rating: General Audiences
Characters/Pairings: Jack, Sam

She was busily typing when she heard him come into the room. After waiting a few moments without him saying anything, she completed her thought and looked up to see him leaning against the doorframe. His expression startled her.

Swallowing nervously at his disgruntled look, she asked, “What’s happened?”

“It’s final,” he replied shortly.

“How long?”

“They want an accelerated timetable; the brass are hashing out the details now. But probably somewhere around six months.”

She looked at him, her own uncertainty evident as well. Six months until the Stargate program went public. Six months until their lives changed forever.

Title: Just Another Dinner
Rating: Teen and Up
Characters/Pairings: Jack, Paul Davis

It was just another rubber chicken dinner. Jack had lost track of how many that made this month. The expectations were always the same: Smile, nod, act interested. It never hurt to have a store of goodwill in reserve and, for some reason, all these people just loved to have shake hands with a two-star general, have a drink with him, or tell him an off-color joke. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

It was just another dinner until Paul Davis arrived, panting and heading straight for Jack, as phones across the room started ringing simultaneously. Then they heard the explosions.

Title: Busted
Rating: General Audiences
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Sam, Team

That’s why.

Jack looked up to see Sam looking at him expectantly. Oh god, had she really thought he would follow whatever it was she was explaining to him? He’d zoned out sometime after the third five-syllable word.

“Well, that’s very... informative, Colonel.” He thought that was a safe enough answer until he saw Daniel snickering and Teal’c raise the eyebrow of ‘you’ve done it now.’

“Sir, I stopped explaining the new generator about fifteen minutes ago. After that, I was telling you why I agreed that we would chaperone Cassie’s prom together.”

“Prom? Together?”

These are all fantastic! But for some reason I particularly liked the first one. I think Sam probably did spend her whole childhood in the library *g*

Thanks. Yeah, I think she was pretty much always studying - books and grades were one thing that really wouldn't change no matter how many times her dad got transferred around.
