Douglas Adams :) His brilliant, witty, and oddly thought-provoking writing will always hold a special place in my heart. I have rarely laughed out loud while reading as much as I do when I read one of his books. Some of my favorite memories (mostly paraphrased):

Vogon Poetry

Every time we press a black button labeled in black on the black panel, a black light lights up black to tell us we did it.
He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.
It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear.
